NFL star Aaron Rodgers has revealed that his previous use of a South American psychedelic drug from the Amazon helped him have the best season.
As the 38-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback is set to enter the 2022 season as the reigning two-time NFL MVP, he admitted to using the drug on a trip to South America this week before winning the award. MVP in 2020 and 2021.
Rodgers appeared on the Aubrey Marcus Podcast on Wednesday, discussing ayahuasca, a psychoactive tea containing the hallucinogenic drug DMT, which he says helped improve his mental health.
'It is only through unconditional self-love that I can truly love others unconditionally. And what better way to work on my mental health than to have an experience like that?'
The drug ayahuasca has been used for thousands of years as a traditional healing method in Central and South America, primarily in the tribal societies of the Amazon Basin.
Ayahuasca contains dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a controlled substance that is not usually legal to possess or distribute in the US or UK under federal law.
