    With Joel Campbell's goal, Costa Rica defeated New Zealand and qualified for  Qatar 2022. The 'Ticos' got the last ticket to the World Cup, where they will debut against Spain.

    Costa Rica won the last ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Tuesday by defeating New Zealand 1-0 in the intercontinental playoff match played in the Qatari city of Al Rayyan, west of Doha.


    The only goal of the game, played at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, was scored by Joel Campbell just after three minutes. New Zealand played the last 20 minutes with one more minor player due to Kosta Barbarouses being sent off.

    The 'Ticos' won with practical football, with few chances and several practical interventions by their star goalkeeper, Keylor Navas.


    With this victory, Costa Rica is framed in Group E of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, along with Germany, Spain and Japan. His debut in the competition will be on Wednesday, November 23, at 11:00 am (Peruvian time) against the 'Furia Roja' at the Al Thumama stadium.


    In addition, the Costa Rican team achieved its sixth qualification for a World Cup and the third in a row. The best of his appearances was in Brazil in 2014, with Jorge Luis Pinto on the bench and Keylor Navas as a great figure, leading his cast to fall on penalties in the quarterfinals.

    His coach, the Colombian Luis Fernando Suarez, will also add a new World Cup after participating with Ecuador in Germany in 2006 and Honduras in South Africa in 2010.
