Draymond Green requested that the league's Board of Governors vote to fire Robert Sarver from his job with the Suns on the most recent episode of his podcast.
Is this man allowed to simply rejoin the group as if he were still our representative? Like he's a component of us? That is not possible. Because I'm uncomfortable, especially as an African-American. Knowing that you can effectively do whatever you want in that situation and not be penalized because you own an asset makes me feel very uneasy.
"I noticed that Commissioner [Adam] Silver stated, "I've done the necessary procedures. I imposed the maximum penalty I'm allowed to. Two-thirds of the other owners of these assets would need to vote in favor of [Robert Sarver] being removed as a franchise owner and forced to sell. So my suggestion would be, "Why don't we put it to a vote?"
For another owner to be ousted, the NBA needs 75% of the Board of Governors' permission. In order to remove Sarver, 22 of the remaining 29 governors and owners would have to agree.
After a protracted inquiry into allegations that Sarver had made racist, sexist, and other disparaging remarks in the workplace, the league ultimately disciplined him last week. He received a one-year suspension, a $10 million fine, and sensitivity training course requirements.
However, many in the league believed that the sentence was excessive considering the long history of offensive and nasty actions. Sarver returning to the Suns for the 2023–24 season seems inappropriate.

Perhaps the outcry from several of the league's vocal leaders will be sufficient to encourage the league to take further action against Sarver.
