SANTA PETERSBURG Aaron Judge saw the ball disappear from view as his second long drive of the evening soared up, up, and up toward the catwalks above Tropicana Field's left-field seats.

The Yankees slugger had no doubts about it, but he did have one in this particular instance.

Judge hurried out of the batter's box, unsure how the ground rules would handle his blast if it were to damage one of those peculiar routes, and then realized he could safely start yet another home run trot. The Yankees defeated the Rays on Wednesday night, 5-4, largely thanks to Judge's two home runs.

The Judge remarked, "I saw it all the way through, but I don't know the catwalk rules. "So I began circling the bases because I was unsure what would happen if it struck one of those and fell back in. Simply put, I wanted to ensure I would be at second base if it came into play.

The Yankees won their 18th game in a row before a four-game series against the Astros that begins on Thursday in the Bronx. Jose Trevino hit a go-ahead, two-run home drive off Ralph Garza Jr. in the eighth inning to give them the winning margin.

Trevino received most of the acclaim in the clubhouse after his crucial pickoff at third base in the fourth inning and timely home run, with manager Aaron Boone pleading for the catcher to be named to the AL All-Star squad. The Judge merely strengthened his case as the finest player in the world by extending his Major League lead with home runs Nos. 26 and 27.

Judge home runs and say, "OK, we're back in this," according to Boone. They continued picking away.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Judge has already recorded six multi-homer performances this season, joining Babe Ruth (1928) as the only franchise player to accomplish the feat within the Yankees' first 70 games.

A judge has played in 22 multi-home run games with the Yankees, which puts him behind Babe Ruth (68), Mickey Mantle (46), Lou Gehrig (43), and Joe DiMaggio (35), and Alex Rodriguez (35). (29).

Trevino said, "Go one through nine in our lineup and on the bench; they're all tremendous hitters. You look at Aaron Judge, you look at [Giancarlo] Stanton, you look at DJ [LeMahieu] — "Talking to them and being able to pick their brains has been invaluable in learning from them. Judge is a unique kind of guy.

A passing Judge smiled and raised his right fist in response, reminding at least one onlooker of the character played by Judd Nelson in the iconic final sequence of "The Breakfast Club." Please don't forget about me.

Judge smashed home runs in the fourth and seventh innings against Shane Baz and Colin Poche the night after flying out to the warning track as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning. The right-hander instantly gestured as if he knew the ball would not come back after the first shot, which was a Baz slider.

Poche could also be sure of that as he snapped off a curve above the striking zone.

The Judge pounded it, creating a 406-foot blast that lasted 6.7 seconds in the air.

Boone admitted, "I'm still trying to figure out what happened. "I lost it just as I was about to watch it land on the catwalk. However, it was encouraging to see him cut another.

Jordan Montgomery, the Yankees' starting pitcher, toiled through six innings of the four-run ball before being given a no-decision. The Bombers won their 51st game, an extensive league record, and Clay Holmes recorded his 12th save. They have only dropped two series all season, to the Orioles (April 15–17) and White Sox (May 21-22)

Judge's performance on Wednesday was also the third time this season that he promptly played after a day off with two home runs (also May 1 at Kansas City and May 17 at Baltimore).

The Judge laughed and replied, "I don't get it. "I believe I can hit pitches in my zone when I swing at them," said the batter. "I think the key thing is keeping the body fresh."
