Thursday night's third and final preseason game saw Packers quarterback Jordan Love continue to post terrible performance metrics, but Packers coach Matt LaFleur kept admiring Love's development.
LaFleur stated after the game that he believes Love played better than the stats would suggest and that after a poor start, Love did a good job of marching the Packers down the field for a touchdown on one drive and a field goal on another. Love completed 16 of 26 passes for 148 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
How do you react when the game doesn't begin the way you want it to? There weren't many opportunities open for him, and he was under a lot of pressure. That, in my opinion, only demonstrates his development process over the past few years. I believed there were many positive things available, LaFleur remarked.
After the first half, Love threw an interception, but LaFleur stated that the coach believed Love read the coverage correctly and that Bryan Cook, a second-round draught pick of the Chiefs, made a great play with the ball.
I was not at all dissatisfied with the choice, LaFleur stated.
Love will now return to the bench as Aaron Rodgers begins the season. Love may have impressed LaFleur during the preseason, but he hopes the player won't play again this year unless it's to clean up after a significant victory under Rodgers' direction.
