    Dominican Cristian Javier

Dominican Cristian Javier started a no-hitter for the Houston Astros, and Héctor Neris and Ryan Pressly closed the feat against the New York Yankees.

    Major League Baseball (MLB)

In front of a packed Yankee Stadium that cried out for a feat, Dominican  Cristian Javier, along with his compatriot Héctor Neris and closer Ryan Pressly, wrote pure history in one of the most heated rivalries in Major League Baseball ( MLB ) by throwing a combined no-hitter for the Houston Astros during a 3-0 win over the New York Yankees this Saturday, June 25.

    Yankees

The Yankees have only conceded two no-hitters since the 1958 season, and both have come courtesy of the Astros. The previous one, combined, was achieved in 2003 with six pitchers on June 11 at the old Yankee Stadium.

Javier scored 13 on 115 pitches, both career highs, and walked one. His previous record was 107 pitches against Seattle on April 27 last year.

The Astros starter gave a two-out walk in the first inning before establishing a stranglehold in which he retired the next 17 batters he faced.

    Hector Neris

Hector Neris took the ball in the eighth inning and, despite giving up two walks, the last of them in a controversial call by the main umpire, kept the Bronx Bombers without hits.

Pressly, who allowed Aaron Hicks' game-tying three-run homer Thursday in a 7-6 loss to the Yankees, retired three straight batters in the ninth inning for his 15th save in 18 chances. After Giancarlo Stanton hit a game-ending groundout, the Astros took the field and gathered near the mound for a brief celebration.

    Rookie JJ Matijevic

Rookie JJ Matijevic gave Javier a lead in the seventh when he hit his second major league home run, driving a Gerrit Cole fastball into the second deck in right field. José Altuve added a solo home run in the eighth off Michael King.
