Svi Mykhailiuk
Throughout four NBA seasons, Svi Mykhailiuk has played for the Lakers, Pistons, Thunder, and, most recently, the Raptors.
Mykhailiuk has a guaranteed deal
But even though Mykhailiuk has a guaranteed deal, the Raptors will waive him before training camp starts next month, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Raptors were willing to forgo Mykhailiuk's $1.9 million opt-in fee to make room on the roster for another player they wish to develop (they have a few coming into camp in D.J. Wilson, Justin Champagnie, and Delano Banton). The Raptors will probably sign one or two of the three players above (or add another player via trade) to complete their roster, as they presently have 13 fully guaranteed contracts on their books.
Hit 30.6% from beyond the arc
Mykhailiuk, a 6'7" wing, was expected to be a good passer and shooter who could play solid wing defense. Although there is perimeter defense, he hit 30.6% from beyond the arc for the Raptors last season after shooting 33.4% the year before. He never matured into the key player that teams envisioned him as.
Mykhailiuk may receive a more lucrative offer from China or Europe than the NBA as an unrestricted free agent.
NBA players from Ukraine
One of the two NBA players from Ukraine, Mykhailiuk (Alex Len), has spoken out against the Russian invasion of his nation.
