After the first round of match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur, the defending champion and top seed are out. Jensen Castle of Kentucky, who won last year at Westchester Country Club, was defeated by Ohio State's Aneka Seumanutafa, one up, on Wednesday at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington.

Latanna Stone was the No. 1 seed after stroke play, and, like Castle, a part of the Curtis Cup squad fell to Julia Misemer, who was seeded No. 64.

Julia Gregg defeated Megha Ganne in 19 holes after Megha Ganne was disqualified from the U.S. Girls' Junior for signing the wrong scorecard.

The No. 3 amateur in the world, Rachel Heck, 13-year-old co-medalist Alice Zhao, Amari Avery, Brooke Seay, and Rachel Kuehn from colleges were notables who made it to the Round of 32.

At 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, Golf Channel will broadcast the action.
