Tackle for the Buccaneers
Offensive tackle for the Buccaneers After rehabbing from an ankle ailment for a significant portion of the offseason, Tristan Wirfs quickly experienced an oblique strain in training camp. But Wirfs is back in the gym now, and it looks like he'll play in Week 1.
Through the Tampa Bay Times
According to Wirfs, through the Tampa Bay Times, "it's a bit frustrating sometimes, just having, like, dumb stuff like that [oblique strain] or just bothersome stuff." However, I'd rather double-check my readiness than return and fix it.
Instead of attempting to fight it out and practice through his most recent injury and turn it into a "weekly issue" that bothers him all year, Wirfs said he took his time recovering from it to ensure it is now entirely healed.
NFL and a first-team All-Pro the previous season
One of the top offensive guards in the NFL and a first-team All-Pro the previous season, keeping Wirfs healthy is crucial to keeping Tom Brady healthy. When the season begins, the Buccaneers are confident that he will be fit enough to play on September 11 against the Cowboys.
