Amid an investigation for multiple charges of sexual misconduct, the giant of professional wrestling, Vince McMahon, will leave the ring for good.
McMahon shocked the world on Friday afternoon when he announced his retirement from WWE on Twitter. According to PW Insider, the decision was made privately “a week ago”.
"As I approach 77, I feel like it's time to retire as chairman and CEO of WWE," McMahon said in a company statement.
McMahon indicated that he would remain the majority shareholder in WWE. His daughter Estefania and chief revenue officer Nick Khan will serve as joint CEOs.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that McMahon allegedly paid money to hush up a former WWE paralegal over a case. A report said McMahon had agreed to pay "More than $12 million over the past 16 years to suppress sexual misconduct and infidelity allegations."

McMahon's announcement follows another change to WWE's internal roster. Triple, who recently had a severe health issue that forced him to withdraw from in-ring action, recently returned to his role as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations.
