Zalatoris started the FedEx St. Jude Championship with a 1-over 71, which included two bogeys and a double bogey. Zalatoris was ranked No. 12 in the season rankings. "The worst luck I think I've had in my entire professional career," he said of the round.

Without a victory, Zalatoris leads the Tour with eight top-10 finishes. On Friday, the Wake Forest product said that he had broken out of his self-described "rut" and has started to go more aggressive with his targets this week. This suggests that the difference between those tournaments and now may be in his mental game.
Perhaps he needed to switch caddies to reframe his thinking and recommit to the current goal.
Zalatoris claimed, "I played on the biggest stages in the majors, and I felt at ease in those settings. I haven't yet experienced a victory. We will eventually, and perhaps tomorrow it will be.
