One of the magical moments of every tennis season has arrived. Wimbledon 2022 opens its green baize and welcomes all the parishioners who come to the event enthusiastically to the cathedral of tennis. The quintessential tournament, where history is breathed, will have a special edition in the usual incomparable setting that is the All England Lawn Tennis Club for this sport. After the nightmare of the pandemic and the edition with certain limitations of 2021, health normality has arrived, but not sports. And is that the absence of Russian and Belarusian tennis players and the fact of not distributing points make this edition very peculiar.

    Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic aspires to revalidate his title and shares favoritism with Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini. At the same time, in the women, Iga Swiatek starts with the vitola of the leading candidate to succeed the retired Ashleigh Barty in the list of winners.

    Wimbledon 2022 calendar and times

Nothing will be like before. The ancient London tournament continues to make its way to modernity, and in this edition, it will be played on Middle Sunday, abandoning that genuine tradition of the event. This will mean that the men's and women's round of 16 will be played on two different days, while the quarterfinals will be played on two different days, in which both men and women will play. All the days will start at 11:00 local time (midnight Spanish time) on the outside tracks, while they will start at 1:30 p.m. local time on the Central Track. At 1:00 p.m. local time on Track 1. maintaining the usual schedule for the individual finals, which will be held from 2:00 p.m. local time, that is, 3:00 p.m. Spanish time.

When is the 2022 Wimbledon final?

The men's final will be held on Sunday, July 10, starting at 2:00 p.m. local time, that is, 3:00 p.m. Spanish time, while the women's final will have the same time and will be played on Saturday, July 9.

When does Rafael Nadal play at Wimbledon 2022?

Rafael Nadal has been training in London since Monday, June 20, and will try his hand at the Hurlingham Tennis Classics exhibition on Wednesday and Friday of that week. Everything indicates that being the second-seeded and maintaining the rule that the current champion, in this case, Djokovic, inaugurates the Center Court, he will debut on Tuesday, June 28, knowing that he walks on the opposite side of the draw Serbian.

Wimbledon 2022 draw for individual draws and seedings

It must be remembered that in all Grand Slam tournaments, there are 32 seeds and that Wimbledon, for years, abandoned that tradition of ordering them according to their criteria based on historical performance on grass. Thus, the seeds are the best tennis players according to the ATP and WTA ranking of those qualified to compete in this edition. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal would not face each other until a hypothetical final. At the same time, Matteo Berrettini seems to be the most complicated rival in a potential quarterfinal, where Carlos Alcaraz, Félix Auger-Aliassime, or Hubert Hurkacz could also face Serbian and Spanish, or also Tsitsipas and Ruud. Paula Badosa starts as the fourth seed in the women's draw and Garbine Muguruza as the ninth.
