This week, Brisbane recorded its lowest daily maximum temperature in 22 years as a cold snap swept through the generally warm state of Queensland. It didn't last long, and with sunshine and clear blue skies reappearing ready for the second test, England can expect a warm welcome from the Wallabies inside the atmospheric cauldron of Suncorp Stadium.

During the apartheid era in South Africa, McDermott refused to travel there as an honorary white man and subsequently became Australia's first indigenous lawyer. Wallabies have played in Brisbane.
