Kyle Busch suffered an engine failure
DARLANDON, S.C. Most of the field had a difficult evening, but Erik Jones persevered to win the Southern 500 on Sunday night at Darlington Raceway.
Jones is not in the playoffs despite having a winless season up until Sunday night. Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, and Kyle Busch were among the 16 playoff drivers who had significant issues throughout the race.
Jones surpassed first-place to take the lead. With 23 laps left, Kyle Busch suffered an engine failure. Jones concluded. The best playoff driver of the evening, Denny Hamlin, finished in second place 252 of a second behind.
